Top Agent Award once again for Royston & Lund Royston & Lund have secured the top award for the East Midlands for the second year running winning gold in the ESTAS agent of the year awards 2010. The awards, which are supported by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) along with a host of industry leaders, are open to all agents across the country and the winners were announced at a celebration lunch attended by national and local agents from across the UK at the Marriott Hotel in Mayfair last week (15th April). Although the number of entrants had doubled this year, Royston & Lund were clear winners and once again took the gold award for best estate agents in the East Midlands amid some stiff competition and in a challenging market. The awards are completely client driven and the result of client opinion in respect of the agent’s performance once the sale of a property is completed. The system is totally transparent and agents must rely on their clients completing the questionnaire and submitting directly to the panel for the results to be collated. Val Shakespeare who manages the residential sales team for Royston & Lund based in West Bridgford comments, “We are thrilled to win this award for the second year running and it is a real testament to all the hard work and commitment from our dedicated team. Customer service is top of our list of priorities and we take great pride in our honest approach, local knowledge and professionalism. We are totally at the mercy of our clients for this prestigious award and we cannot thank them enough for their support. This is an excellent result for an independent agent and it is so rewarding when our efforts are recognised both by satisfied clients and the industry overall”.

The home information pack (HIP ) has been under scrutiny since is conception and much has been said from those inside and outside the property market on whether it had any value or whether it was simply an expensive and time consuming piece of legislation. The new Government announced on 20th May that it is to be scrapped, as promised in their manifesto. "Today the new government is ensuring that home information packs are history," said Housing Minister Grant Shapps. This move now means that home sellers will be able to market their home without having to pay out hundreds of pounds upfront. The abolition of the HIP now means that a property can be brought straight to the market without delay subject to an energy performance certificate (EPC) being in place within 28 days. Not only does this represent a saving of around £350 on average for vendors but it will encourage those who want to test the market. "It will be greeted enthusiastically by both the housing market and house buyers, few of whom have paid much attention to these pointless packs," the National Association of Estate Agents said.Val Shakespeare, Office Manager at award winning agents Royston & Lund in West Bridgford says “Overall this is another welcome move for the property market as it continues on its path of recovery. We have certainly been extremely busy in all areas of operation and the outlook remains very positive.”
